Why is growing your blog traffic important?

Growing your blog traffic means everything for having a thriving blog. Without blog traffic, it is pretty much impossible to monetize. And in the beginning, you are going to have to spend a good bit of intentional effort promoting your blog to get traffic.

There will be times when things can feel discouraging because self-doubt begins to creep in. But I promise you, based on every blogger I have followed, it is a normal growing pain and everyone goes through it.

Blog traffic is a must if your goal is to monetize it. The truth is, you need blog traffic to get accepted to have the ability to do sponsored posts to get paid, as well as the ability to get accepted by certain affiliate programs that require a certain amount of page views to even be considered. And obviously, you want your hard work to be seen!

So in this post, I will be sharing with you the top 7 ways to drive traffic to your blog beginning today!

1. Drive traffic to your blog using Facebook groups

I have found Facebook groups to be extremely helpful from the beginning of my blog journey when you find the right ones. Many of the blogging groups are established to help one another in growing their page views, gathering comments, reducing bounce rates, etc. And it is one of the quickest and easiest ways to begin driving traffic to your site. Another way to use Facebook groups is to find other groups within your niche outside of blogging groups specifically and go offer value.

If you search for Facebook groups specifically related within your niche, it is easy to become an expert within them by offering value. Some ways to offer value within these groups are:

  • Find others who are asking questions and comment offering genuine value by helping solve their problem
  • Create posts educating that are valuable
  • Connect with others on the same journey as you and grow your network. (You never know where it could lead.)

This is not an opportunity to spam your links all over the place. It is an opportunity to add value to these group pages and help solve other’s problems and make connections. And when necessary or appropriate, share the latest blog post related to their problem. (This is also a great way to gather content ideas as you begin to see a trend in common problems or questions within your niche.)

2. Use Pinterest to drive more traffic to your blog

This one is huge and one of the easiest tools to begin with as a new blogger. The top reasons I love Pinterest is because it is free to gain traffic and exposure and it is much faster than the time it takes to rank in Google.

SEO on Google can take anywhere from 6-12 months to begin ranking to gain exposure, whereas, your pins could go viral your very first day on Pinterest if you’re using the platform right! Here I break down how to join Pinterest group boards and the importance of them to drive more traffic to your blog. And I also use Tailwind to loop my pins and it keeps my Pinterest and blog content running on auto-pilot!

3. Link on your social media channels to drive blog traffic

I personally suggest using linktr.ee for Instagram because you can use it to post multiple links, like your latest blog posts. I use the free version and it works fine for what I use it for. Then Bit.ly is another great website to use to shorten your links for other social media platforms. It isn’t uncommon for a new visitor that lands on your social channel to click your links if your profile has caught their attention, so make the most of it!

4. Drive traffic to your blog with your email signature

I recently saw this suggested and I thought it was brilliant! Consider creating your email signature as one of your opt-ins and offer your contacts that you correspond with a free gift! We all know that your email list is where the money is at and that that is the main goal for monetizing your blog! And in turn, it will increase as you send your list your latest blog posts or content.

5. Grow your traffic with Quora.com

This is a great website where the public ask questions and you can answer them. I love using it by searching questions within my niche and then helping answer their questions with one of my blog posts that relates. And it is also a great way to do some research around your topic to help you come up with new ideas to write about and shed light on.

6. Ask your email list for a favor

I recently heard Isa from ConvertKit quote someone stating that by us asking for a favor, it actually builds trust. Somehow psychologically when someone does a favor for us it builds trust, which I thought was pretty neat.

So, if you have an email list already established or maybe even a group page or following, then it is a great way to ask them if they know anyone that would find value in your content. And ask them to have them subscribe to your list and follow your blog!
